In this talk, we will introduce the Biot model for fluid flows in poroelastic media, which is coupling between the displacement of the poroelastic medium and the pressure of the fluid. In the model, the hydraulic conductivity is assumed to depend on the dilation of the medium, which makes the PDE system quasi-linear. We will discuss well-posedness, regularity, finite element approximations, and numerical experiments of the model problem.
